Welcome to our guestbook
Kumi,december 2008
Hi Steffi,
It does'nt really feel like Christmas here because it's so hot!
I just wanted to update you. We have painted the school inside and out putting learning aids onto the walls. This has been both paintings and posters. The classrooms have been shuttered and doored. I have purchased some textbooks for various subjects and also a few other learning materials. I have also bought some sports equipment.
Yesterday we bought two cows which we will now be used to provide milk for porridge as lunch. I have built a shelter for them so they can be cared for at the school.
Last week the school finished and we had an celebration a little like your theatre opening. The parents etc. were very pleased with the school.
I will give you a more precise breakdown, I still have money remaining. There is a possibility that I will be staying for the next year here. We will be leaving Kumi after Christmas to travel. If I am to stay I will come back at the end of january. Once I know I will let you know. Obviously if I'm here I will look forward to showing you around the new place.
I know John O is very happy with the school improvements. I think that they have made a difference to the pupils. The school was so inadequte that it was necessary to improve the environment before making any 'fancy' changes. I am very poleased with what has been done.
Please thank the donors and tell them that the community are very happy about what has taken place.
Wishing you a very happy Christmas JP.
